HAPPINESS AND BUSINESS OUTCOMES

Happiness is a state of mind, a choice and a way of living. You cannot base your happiness on what is going on with you, even though it is easy to do so. In order to start anything that will move you forward in life, you have to have a positive and happy predisposition.

A culture that laughs is happy, and a happy culture is productive and health. As a goal, it towers over wealth (or anything material) in importance. Bring that knowledge and that elated emotion to your home, your office, your life. Not sure what happiness or genuine joy really is or how to reach it?

Let’s look at 8 points that can help an individual to be happy.

  • Happiness can be learned: if you have a grumpy disposition, you can unlearn this negative habit by being conscious of it and changing your mindset. How about you saying to yourself regularly, ‘I want to be happy.’
  • Happiness speeds up success: If you have a positive outlook about things, you will notice that you do things with a lot of ease. When you are confronted with a difficulty, because of your happy tendency, you will look for a solution.
  • Happiness will increase your energy: if you have ever been around someone who is happy, you will notice that they tend to be ‘full of beans,’ so to speak. They are full of energy and believe they can deal with any problem.
  • Happiness will increase your longevity: We know that stress can make one sick and the same is for being cheerful. If one is cheerful, and don’t let anything worry one, it helps increase one’s attitude to life.
  • Happiness attracts you to what you want: If you wish yourself good things in life, and visualise it or say it out to yourself, you will see that those things will come to pass.
  • Happiness increases your health and wellness: I did a study a while ago on unforgiveness and there was a lot of research done on how not being in a good mood can affect one’s health negatively.
  • Happiness is contagious: If you are jovial by nature, people would want to be around you and your nature will rub off on others too.
  • You can condition yourself to be habitually happy: You do this by seeing the positive in anything that happens to you. You do this by repeating affirmations that make you feel good about yourself. Listen to motivational speakers on YouTube. Listen to music that are uplifting.

Check it out—you can rewire your brain to be happy, which means you can transform your life in a way that results in productivity and success, real meaning and accomplishment. You can be that person on top of the mountain, arms outstretched with the breeze of victory and bliss brushing your face. You can be content—and energetic, and successful, and healthy, and a go-getter…

But without happiness, you can’t find meaning, and without meaning, happiness is out the door. A happy life is a meaningful life, a life with purpose, and vice versa.

Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage, says, “A positive brain has a unique advantage over a negative or stressed one.” It’s true—your business outcomes will improve, and so will your well-being and lifespan. And because of that, you’ll reach a new level of meaning, of hope, of success.

Ditch the habits of stumbling into negative situations; ditch stress and pessimism. Instead, invest in your life by immersing yourself in positive, valuable experiences—because the benefits are inarguable.

The benefits can be summed up into one thing: a healthier, better, more satisfying existence.
