FROM FAILURE TO REJECTION TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF HIS DREAMS…

victory-FI 2nd C

Everybody knows Sylvester Stallone, but just a few know the inspiring story behind his success.
A story that should inspire you to never give up your goals.

Back in the day, Sylvester Stallone actor in every definition.  At some point, he go so broke that he stole his wife’s jewellery and sold it.  Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless.  Yes, in the mid 1970s he went to New York to pursue his dream of being an actor, but he found nothing but closed doors. He was broke, so he had to sleep for three weeks at the New Jersey Bus Terminal because he was unable to pay rent or afford food.

His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor story to any stranger.  He didn’t have money to feed the dog anymore.  He sold it for $25 only.  He said, he walked away crying.

Two weeks later, he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie, ROCKY.  He worked on it without sleeping for a whole weekend, and after 3 days of work the script was ready.   He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script.  But he had just ONE REQUEST; he wanted to STAR  in the movie.  He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR.  Rocky himself.  But the studio said NO.  They wanted a REAL STAR.

By the way, have you ever wondered why he has such a “unique” expression? He was born paralyzed in the lower left part of his face. Furthermore, his speech had not the perfect diction you would expect from an actor.

They said, “he looked funny and talked funny.”  He left with his script.  A few weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script.  He refused.  They even offered $325,000 and he still refused.  They wanted his movie but NOT him.  He said NO.  He had to be IN THAT MOVIE.

After a while, the studio agreed, eventually they consented him to act in the movie, but with a very low salary for a leading role, only $35,000.   The rest is history.  The movie won Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious Oscar Awards.  He was even nominated for BEST ACTOR!  The movie Rocky was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!

And do you know the first thing he bought with the $350,000?  THE DOG HE SOLD.  Yes, Sylvester Stallone loved his dog so much that he stood at the liquor store for three days waiting for the man he sold his dog to.  And on the 3rd day, he saw the man coming with the dog.  Stallone explained why he sold the dog and begged for the dog back. The man refused.  Stallone offered him $100 and the man refused; Stallone offered him $500 and the man still refused.  Yes and he refused $1000 as well.  Believe it or not, Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same dog he sold for $25 only!  And he finally got his dog back.

Rocky grossed more than $200 million at the box office!

Stallone had to go through the hardest path to get where he was, but all the sacrifices eventually paid off.
“It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving on. That’s how winning is done”

What this story teaches us is that if you want something badly enough and if you work harder than you can, you make the impossible possible.

And today, the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog just because he could not even feed it anymore, is one of the GREATEST movie Stars who every walked the earth!
